Dhanraj recovery
Dhanraj is a college student in a Delhi. While coming from college he was in high speed and met with a accident. He was injured extensively.H had head injuries, and extensive limb fractures. He was diagnosed to have brachial plexus injury while recovering from head injury.
I saw him six months after accident. As we planned surgery I had a lingering doubt about success of surgery. But I decided to brush aside such feeling .We operated Dhanraj in December 2015, I explored plexus and found that total avulsion of all five roots. Plan was made to do SAN to supraspinatus ,Phrenic nerve to axillary via nerve graft and intercoastal 3,4,5 to musculocutaneous nerve. We discharged patient after two days .Post operative was okay we discharged patient after two days . Post operative was okay and after one month we started physiotherapy. Initial one year was tough and patient was not showing no results. At six monthly visits I was encouraging to do physiotherapy. After two years finally patient come back with clinically significant movement. Seeing these excellent results I silently thanked god .
Now I planning to do ulnar nerve graft to contralateral C7 to median nerve and connect FFMT to it, for finger flexion.
